COVID-19

COVID-19, which is the most recent and infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2. This new coronavirus appeared in Wuhan, China; in December 2019 after health officials noticed an increase in pneumonia cases with no known cause. Currently, it has caused a global pandemic affecting most countries in the world. Most common symptoms include fever, dry cough, and tiredness. Other less common symptoms include pains, nasal congestion, headache, conjunctivitis, sore throat, diarrhea, loss of taste or smell or a rash on skin or discoloration of fingers or toes. Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing hospital treatment. Around 1 out of every 5 people who gets COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart and lung problems, diabetes, or cancer, are at higher risk of developing serious illness. The outbreak of the SARS-CoV-2 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been accompanied by a large amount of misleading and false information about the virus, especially on social media also giving rise to an 'infodemic'
